A microwave that hums but leaves food cold has a different fault to one that will not power up at all. We repair the four parts that account for most failures — the control board, the magnetron, the high-voltage capacitor and the fan motor.
Solo, grill and convection microwaves share the same core heating circuit. When a microwave stops heating, the fault is nearly always in one of these components.
Control board (PCB)
Touch panels that do not respond, displays that stay blank, programmes that reset mid-cycle or a unit that trips as soon as it starts.
Magnetron
The part that actually produces the microwaves. A worn magnetron is the usual answer when the turntable spins and the light works but food stays cold.
High-voltage capacitor
Feeds the magnetron. A failed capacitor causes loud buzzing, no heating, or a unit that trips the circuit the moment it is started.
Cooling fan motor
Keeps the magnetron within temperature. When it fails the oven cuts out part-way through a cycle, or runs hot and smells of burning.
Before you call
What the symptom usually points to
Runs normally but food stays cold
The classic magnetron symptom, though a failed high-voltage capacitor produces the same result. Both are tested before either is replaced.
Loud buzzing or humming when heating
Usually the high-voltage capacitor on its way out. A capacitor change is ₹699 plus ₹399 labour.
Trips the power as soon as it starts
Points to the capacitor or a short on the board. Stop using the oven until it has been looked at — this is the one fault worth acting on quickly.
Touch panel unresponsive or display blank
A control board fault. PCB repair is ₹1,499, which is usually well below the cost of replacing the oven.
Cuts out part-way through cooking
Commonly the cooling fan motor failing and the thermal cut-out doing its job. Fan motor replacement is ₹699 plus ₹399 labour.
Sparking inside the cavity
Often damaged internal coating or a metal object left inside, but it can also be the waveguide cover. Worth inspecting rather than continuing to run it.

Repair or replace
When a repair makes sense, and when it does not
A board repair at ₹1,499 or a magnetron at ₹1,599 plus labour is usually worth doing on a mid-range or convection oven, where replacement runs several times higher. On an entry-level solo microwave that has already had one major part replaced, the arithmetic often points the other way.
We will tell you which side of that line your oven falls on. If replacing it is the sensible answer, we would rather say so than take payment for a repair that will not last.
Microwave questions
Common questions
Is it safe to keep using a microwave that is not heating?
If it simply does not heat, it is not dangerous, but there is no point running it. If it buzzes loudly, sparks inside, smells of burning or trips the power, stop using it and unplug it until it has been inspected.
Do you repair convection and grill microwaves as well as solo models?
Yes. The heating circuit we work on — board, magnetron, capacitor, fan motor — is common to all three, and the listed prices apply the same way.
Why is there a separate labour charge on top of the part?
So you can see what you are paying for. A magnetron at ₹1,599 plus ₹399 labour is ₹1,998 in total. Quoting a single blended figure makes it impossible to tell whether the part or the labour is the expensive half.
Can a microwave control board really be repaired rather than swapped?
In most cases, yes. Board faults are frequently a failed component on the board rather than the whole board being dead, which is why PCB repair at ₹1,499 is quoted as a repair rather than a replacement.
Do you also handle AC and geyser work?
Yes — the same team covers air conditioners and geysers. If more than one appliance needs attention, mention it when you book.
