Storage water heaters serviced, descaled and repaired. Most no-hot-water calls come down to one of two parts — the heater coil or the thermostat — and both are listed with their prices below.
Kolkata water leaves scale on a heating element, and scale is what kills most geysers. A geyser that takes longer and longer to heat is usually telling you the element is furring up rather than failing outright.
Standard service
Draining and flushing the tank, clearing scale, checking the safety valve, inlet and outlet connections, and testing that the unit cuts off at temperature.
Heater coil replacement
When the element has scaled beyond cleaning or burnt out. Coils are priced by model, since capacity and wattage differ between units.
Thermostat replacement
For water that runs scalding, never gets warm, or a geyser that keeps cycling on and off without settling at temperature.

What the symptom usually points to
No hot water at all
Either a burnt-out heater coil or a failed thermostat. Both are quick to test, and the test decides which one you actually pay for.
Takes much longer to heat than it used to
Almost always scale on the heating element. A standard service at ₹499 often restores it; a heavily scaled coil needs replacing.
Water comes out scalding hot
A thermostat that is no longer cutting off. Worth attending to promptly — a thermostat is ₹599 plus ₹399 labour.
Water dripping from the unit
Could be the safety valve doing its job, a loose connection, or tank corrosion. The first two are repairable; the third usually is not.
Trips the power when switched on
Typically a heater coil that has failed and is leaking to earth. Leave it switched off until it has been checked.
Keeps switching on and off repeatedly
A thermostat that is not holding its set point, or heavy scale causing the element to overheat locally.

Geyser questions
Common questions
How often should a geyser be serviced?
Once a year is a sensible rhythm for most homes, and the natural time is just before winter when the geyser starts getting daily use. Regular descaling is the single thing that most extends the life of the heating element.
Why is the heater coil price a range rather than one figure?
Because coils are not interchangeable. A coil for a small 6 litre unit and one for a 25 litre unit differ in capacity, wattage and fitting, so they differ in price. The range of ₹1,299 to ₹2,499 covers the models we commonly work on, and we confirm the exact figure once we know yours.
My geyser leaks slightly from a valve. Is that a fault?
Not necessarily. The pressure relief valve is designed to release a little water as the tank heats and expands. Continuous dripping, or water coming from the body of the unit rather than the valve, is a different matter and should be looked at.
Is it worth repairing an old geyser?
If the tank itself is sound, then yes — a coil or thermostat replacement costs a fraction of a new unit. Once the tank has corroded and is leaking from the body, replacement is the honest recommendation, and we will say so.
Do you work on instant geysers as well as storage models?
Our published rates cover storage water heaters, which is what most Kolkata homes have. If you have an instant unit, send us the model when you book and we will tell you straight away whether it is something we can take on.
